11-year old juvenile male dead after ATV accident near Waltham Monday afternoon

A juvenile male is dead after an ATV accident that took place in a rural location north-northwest of Waltham Wednesday afternoon.

Mower County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 33000 block of 550th Avenue at approximately 4:31 p.m. Wednesday afternoon for a report of an ATV accident involving a juvenile male.  Mower County Sheriff Steve Sandvik reported that upon arrival, deputies observed others on the scene performing CPR on the 11-year old juvenile male, who had been pinned under the ATV in a waterway for an undetermined amount of time.  Sandvik stated that emergency personnel who responded to the accident scene assisted with ongoing, advanced life-saving efforts, but he went on to state that the efforts were unsuccessful, and  the juvenile male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Along with the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, the Brownsdale Police, the Minnesota State Patrol, Blooming Prairie Ambulance, the Blooming Prairie Fire Department and Mayo One Air Ambulance all responded to the accident scene as well Wednesday afternoon.
