22 additional COVID-19 cases recorded in Mower County Thursday for cumulative total of 5,906; number of active cases highest since peak of pandemic in November 2020

Mower County logged 5,720 confirmed and 186 probable COVID-19 cases Thursday for a cumulative total of 5,906 since the onset of the pandemic, a rise of 22 from Wednesday, according to statistics released Thursday by the Minnesota Department of Health.  Pam Kellogg, Division Manager with Mower County Health and Human Services reported that there are approximately 225 active COVID-19 cases currently in Mower County, the highest total in the county since the peak of the pandemic last November.  Health officials added that 47,031 healthcare workers in the state have now tested positive for the virus, and over 683,800 people have now been reported as no longer needing isolation.

Olmsted County recorded 16,640 cumulative cases Thursday, a jump of 96 from Wednesday, Steele County reported 5,342 cumulative cases Thursday, up 29 from Wednesday and Freeborn County confirmed 4,477 cumulative COVID-19 cases Thursday, up 12 from Wednesday.  Dodge County now has 2,537 cumulative cases, up five from Wednesday and Fillmore County recorded 2,093 cumulative COVID-19 cases Thursday, up five from Wednesday.  

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 2,874 positive COVID-19 tests in the state Thursday for a cumulative total of 711,094, and they added that 13 additional COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in the state from Wednesday to Thursday for a cumulative total of 8,153 since the onset of the pandemic.  A total of 38,081 COVID-19 patients in Minnesota have required hospitalization since the start of the pandemic, and 7,709 of those patients have required treatment in intensive care units.
