Albert Lea man sentenced to prison time on felony DWI, violating DANCO charges in Mower County District Court

An Albert Lea man who pleaded guilty to a felony DWI charge in Mower County District Court after a traffic stop in Mower County on November 1st, 2021 has been sentenced to prison time.  

35-year old William Michael Oleson was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 72 months in prison for a felony charge of 1st degree DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test.  Oleson first pleaded guilty to the charge on October 3rd of this year, and felony charges for 1st degree DWI, under the influence of alcohol and for domestic assault stemming from the incident, plus a gross misdemeanor charge for driving after revocation, inimical to public safety in the case against Oleson were dismissed with his guilty plea.

Oleson was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to 33 months in prison for a felony charge of violating a domestic abuse no-contact order after it was determined that Oleson had contacted the victim of the assault daily from November 3rd through the 8th in 2021.  Oleson also pleaded guilty to the felony domestic abuse charge on October 3rd of this year, and five additional felony charges for violating a domestic abuse no-contact order, plus four felony charges for violating a no-contact order within 10 years of the first of two or more convictions in the case against Oleson were dismissed with his guilty plea.

District Court Judge Natalie Martinez determined that Oleson will be allowed to serve the two prison sentences concurrently.
