Albertville woman killed in one-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 in Freeborn County Wednesday morning

An Albertville woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 90 in Freeborn County Wednesday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2004 Sterling straight truck being driven by 51-year old Michelle Lee Bermel of Albertville was westbound on Interstate 90 at milepost 157 west of Interstate 35 at approximately 9:18 a.m. Wednesday morning when her truck blew a tire and ran off the north side of I-90.  The truck then hit an embankment before coming to a stop in the north ditch partially in a creek.

Bermel was killed in the accident, and the State Patrol indicated that Bermel was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.  The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Fire Departments from Albert Lea and Manchester, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation all assisted the State Patrol at the scene of the fatal accident Wednesday morning.
