Area girls’ basketball recap from Tuesday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls’ basketball team was looking for win number two in a row in Adams Tuesday evening versus the Southland Rebels, and senior guard Bobbie Bruns tallied a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists as the Blossoms rolled to a 66-41 win.

The Blossoms featured a balanced attack as besides Bruns’ 20 points, Haven Carlson added 10 points, Anna Pauly chipped in nine points and Addison Doocy registed eight points as Head Coach John Bruns stated in a game report that defensively, BP did a great job rebounding and creating turnovers, which allowed the Blossoms to get out into transition and score on layups before the Rebel defense was able to set up.

Southland’s Bailey Johnson led all scorers in the game with 24 points, while Olivia Matheis swished two 3-pointers on her way to eight points, and Jaida Sorenson and Bria Nelson each scored three points for the Rebels, who fell to 2-6 for the season.

With their second win in a row, Blooming Prairie is now 3-3 overall on the young season and 2-0 in the Gopher Conference.  The Blossoms will face a very stern test in their next game as they travel to Hayfield to take on the unbeaten Vikings in a Gopher Conference matchup December 28th, with tip-off that night at 7:15 p.m.

In Grand Meadow, the Superlarks played host to the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics Tuesday evening and Kendyl Queensland led four Superlarks in double figures with 14 points as the Larks led 33-14 at the half on their way to a 57-25 win.

Besides Queensland’s 14 points, Grand Meadow featured balanced scoring with McKenna Hendrickson registering 12 points, Lauren Queensland added 11 points and forward River Landers scored 10 points.  Sydney Cotton tallied five points and Rebecca Hoffman scored four points in the win for the Superlarks.  Lyle/Pacelli was led by Alana Rogne who scored eight points, Olivia Heard swished a 3-pointer on her way to six points, Desiree Schultz registered four points and Morgan Klankowski drained a 3-pointer for three points for the Athletics, who fell to 1-6 overall on the season and 1-4 in the Southeast Conference.  With the win, Grand Meadow moves to 4-1 in the Southeast Conference and 7-1 overall on the season.
