Austin City Council approves purchase of ladder truck for Austin Fire Department at Monday meeting

The Austin City Council approved a contract for the purchase of a ladder truck for the Austin Fire Department at their regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening.  Austin Mayor Steve King spoke with KAUS during the “Meet the Mayor” segment of “Wright Here, Right Now” and credited Fire Chief Jim McCoy and Finance Director Tom Dankert for coming up with a creative way to save the city approximately $375,000 towards the purchase of the truck…

Chief McCoy stated in a memo to the council that no payment would be made prior to the delivery of the apparatus, which is expected in mid-2024.  McCoy went on to state that the 2024 delivery date would accelerate the purchase of the truck, which was in the department’s capital improvement plan for 2025 by approximately six months.
