Austin City Council approves resolution accepting coronavirus local fiscal recovery funds

The Austin City Council approved a resolution at their last regularly scheduled meeting accepting coronavirus local fiscal recovery funds established under the American Rescue Plan Act.  KAUS News spoke with Austin City Administrator Craig Clark, who stated that the council will determine how the funds will be distributed during discussions to be held in October….


Clark went on to state that some of the funds could potentially be distributed to the hotel industry in Austin, which was particularly hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic…

Clark added that the city has already met the deadline for distribution of the funds by the end of 2024 by having the funds qualify for revenue replacement…

The resolution approved by the council states that the funds are intended to provide support to state, local and tribal governments in responding to the impact of COVID-19 and in their efforts to contain the virus in their communities, residences and businesses.
