Austin City Council holds public hearings concerning street improvement projects for 2023 at Monday meeting

The Austin City Council held seven different public hearings on street improvement projects coming up in the city for 2023 at their regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening.  Austin Mayor Steve King spoke with KAUS on the “Meet the Mayor” segment of “Wright Here, Right Now’ and talked about one of the projects on 1st St. NW, from Oakland West to 1st Drive Northwest that will involve three phases, starting in early May and wrapping up in late October, and he added that while the projects can be an inconvenience for a short time, the resulting work will last for a period of 50-60 years….


The projects will involve work on 5th Avenue NW, 6th Avenue NW & 20th Street NW, 2nd Street SW, 10th Avenue SW & 11th Avenue SW, 7th Avenue NE & 19th Drive NE, 8th Street NE & Institute Lift Station Construction, Hormel Drive Mill & Overlay, 3rd Avenue SW and 21st Street SW & 22nd Street SW Mill & Overlay.  For more information concerning the projects, including a map of the work to be done, dates projects are slated to start and how long the work is expected to last can be found on the city’s webpage at ci.austin.mn.us by clicking on the “city construction projects” tab under the engineering department header.
