Austin man sentenced to jail time, supervised probation for felony fleeing a peace officer charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who pleaded guilty to a felony fleeing a peace officer charge in Mower County District Court stemming from an incident that took place in October of 2020 has been sentenced to jail time and supervised probation.

53-year old Ronald Paul Kirtz was convicted and sentenced Thursday to 47 days in jail and two years of supervised probation for a felony charge of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.  Kirtz was granted a stay of imposition in the case where the defendant pleads guilty to a felony-level offense.  If he or she successfully completes their probation, the conviction will be deemed a misdemeanor.  Kirtz was given credit for 47 days already served, and he was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to 47 days in jail and a year of supervised probation for a misdemeanor charge of obstructing the legal process, interfering with a peace officer.  Kirtz was given credit for 47 days already served, and Judge Kevin Siefken determined that the two sentences can be served concurrently.  

Kirtz first pleaded guilty to the two charges on June 1st.
