Austin man sentenced to prison time on drug sale and DANCO violation charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man facing drug sale and violation of a domestic abuse, no-contact order charges stemming from four separate incidents that took place from December of 2019 to January of 2022 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court.

37-year old Robert James Leonard, who is currently being held in the Mower County jail was convicted and sentenced Friday to 51 months in prison for a felony charge of 3rd degree drugs, sale of a narcotic stemming from an incident that took place on December 17th, 2019.  Leonard was also convicted and sentenced Friday to one year in jail for a gross misdemeanor charge for violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order stemming from an incident that took place on July 30th, 2021.  Leonard was given credit for a year already served, and he was also convicted and sentenced Friday to 33 months in prison for a felony charge of violating a domestic abuse, no-contact order stemming from an incident on January 25th, 2022.  Leonard pleaded guilty to the three charges on November 4th, 2022, and a felony charge of violation of a domestic abuse, no-contact order stemming from an incident that took place on November 5th, 2021, felony charges for domestic assault, and for domestic assault by strangulation stemming from the January 25th, 2022 incident, and a gross misdemeanor charge for violation of a domestic abuse, no-contact order against Leonard stemming from the incident on July 30th, 2021 were all dismissed with his guilty pleas.

Judge Kevin Siefken determined that Leonard will be allowed to serve the two prison sentences concurrently.
