Austin man sentenced to prison time on felony assault, terroristic threats charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who pleaded guilty to felony assault and terroristic threats charges in Mower County District Court has been sentenced to prison time.

22-year old Raymond James Engelman was convicted and sentenced Thursday to a year and a day in prison for a felony charge of 4th degree assault on hospital emergency personnel stemming from an incident that took place on December 1st, 2019.  Engelman first pleaded guilty to the charge on November 24th, 2021, and a misdemeanor charge for 5th degree assault in the case was dismissed with Engelman’s guilty plea.  

Engelman was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to a year and a day in prison for a felony charge of terroristic threats stemming from an incident that took place on February 26th, 2020.  Engelman also pleaded guilty to that charge on November 24th, 2021, and a felony charge for 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon and gross misdemeanor charges for 4th degree assault, physically assault a peace officer and for obstructing the legal process, resisting arrest in the case were all dismissed with Engelman’s guilty plea.
