Austin man sentenced to prison time on felony drug sale charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who sold a total of 33.7 grams of methamphetamine and 23.57 grams of heroin to a confidential informant on four different occasions in Austin in May of 2021 has been sentenced to prison time in Mower County District Court. 

46-year old Robert Edward Collins was convicted and sentenced Thursday to seven years in prison for a felony charge of 2nd degree drugs, sale of three grams or more of heroin.  

Collins was arrested in June 2021 and was initially charged with felonies for 1st degree drugs, sale of 17 grams or more of cocaine, 1st degree drugs, sale of 10 or more grams of heroin and for 3rd degree drugs, sale of a narcotic drug.  

Collins pleaded guilty to the felony 2nd degree drug sale charge on January 24th, and the other charges against Collins in the case were dismissed with his guilty plea.
