Austin man sentenced to supervised probation felony firearm ammunition possession, drug possession charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who was taken into custody after a search warrant executed at his residence in the 800 block of 8th Avenue Southeast on December 18th, 2017 turned up a total of 11.8 grams of methamphetamine, two firearms, .223 caliber ammunition, a small amount of marijuana, marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia has been sentenced to supervised probation in Mower County District Court.

Baldus

30-year old Ryan Jiles Baldus was sentenced Thursday to 15 years of supervised probation and 40 hours in the sentence to service program for a felony charge of being a violent felon in possession of firearm ammunition.  A 60-month prison sentence was stayed for 15 years if Baldus complies with the terms of his probation, and he first pleaded guilty to the charge in November of 2018.  Baldus was convicted on the charge in March of 2019, and he was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation for a felony 5th degree drug possession charge.  A 13-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Baldus adheres to the conditions of his probation, and he first pleaded guilty to the charge in November of 2018.

A felony charge for being a violent felon in possession of a firearm and an additional felony 5th degree drug possession charge in the case were both dismissed with Baldus’s guilty pleas.
