Austin man sentenced to supervised probation on drug possession, motor vehicle theft and theft charges in Mower County District Court
An Austin man who had 4.13 grams of heroin on his personage after being found in possession of a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of 2nd St. SE in September of 2020 has been sentenced to supervised probation and time in the sentence to service program in Mower County District Court.
29-year old Steven Regino Schwering was sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation and 80 hours in the sentence to service program for a felony 5th degree drug possession charge. A prison sentence of a year and a day was stayed for five years if Schwering complies with the terms of his probation, and Schwering was also sentenced to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of theft, taking and driving a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. A 17-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Schwering adheres to the conditions of his probation. A felony charge of 3rd degree drugs, possession of three grams or more of heroin and a petty misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia in the case were dismissed with Schwering’s guilty pleas.
Schwering was also convicted and sentenced to five years of supervised probation and 80 hours in the sentence to service program for a felony 5th degree drug charge stemming from an incident that took place on December 18th, 2020. A 19-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Schwering complies with the terms of his probation, and he was also sentenced to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of theft, taking, using or transferring movable property without consent. A 19-month prison sentence was stayed for five years, and Judge Christa Dailey determined that all of the sentences can be served concurrently.
