Austin man sentenced to supervised probation on drug sale and escape from custody charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who sold approximately one gram of heroin to a confidential informant in the 700 block of 5th Avenue Northwest in Austin on August 7th, 2020 has been sentenced to supervised probation in Mower County District Court.

26-year old Montana Richard Hinchley was convicted and sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of 3rd degree drugs, sale of a narcotic.  A 21-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Hinchley complies with the terms of his probation, and he was also convicted and sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation for a felony charge of escape from custody stemming from an incident that took place on August 10th of 2020.  A 13-month prison sentence was stayed for five years if Hinchley adheres to the conditions of his probation, and Judge Jeffery Kritzer determined that the two sentences can be served concurrently.

Hinchley first pleaded guilty to the two charges on December 6th, 2021.
