Austin man sentenced to supervised probation on felony domestic assault charge in Mower County District Court

An Austin man who pleaded guilty to a felony domestic assault charge in Mower County District Court in September of 2021 stemming from an incident that took place on February 10th, 2021 has been sentenced to supervised probation.  

36-year old Robert James Leonard was sentenced Thursday to three years of supervised probation for a felony charge of domestic assault by strangulation.  A 21-month prison sentence was stayed for three years if Leonard complies with the 23 different conditions of his probation, and he was convicted on the charge on September 21st, 2021 after pleading guilty the same day.

Felony charges for 3rd degree assault, substantial bodily harm and for threats of violence, plus a gross misdemeanor domestic assault charge against Leonard in the case were dismissed with his guilty plea.
