Austin Packers boys’ golf team ninth at 12-team Lake City Invitational Monday

The Austin Packers boys’ golf team traveled to The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City Monday for a 12-team invitational, and it was Austin tying for 9th place with Cannon Falls with a team total of 357.  Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa took first place with a team total of 305, edging out second-place Rochester Century, who finished with a 308.

Freshman Cale Tupy fired the low score for Austin Monday with a 79, followed by fellow freshman Carter Hovelsrud with a 91.  Sophomore Issac Erickson carded a 93, eight-grader Elijah Krueger shot a 94, and junior Ethan Knox and senior David Ide both finished with a 99.

The Packers are right back into action today (Tuesday) at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester for a Big 9 Conference quadrangular with Rochester Century, Rochester John Marshall and Faribault, with tee-off scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
