Austin Packers boys’ swimming and diving team 9th at Cougar Relays in Mankato Saturday

The Austin Packers boys’ swimming and diving team traveled to Mankato Saturday for the 2021 Tim Johnson Boys Cougar Relays, and the Packers took ninth place in the 12-team field with a total of 99 points.  Lakeville South was first with 182 points, followed by Lakeville North in second with 156.5 points, Rochester Century was just behind in third with 153 points, Northfield was fourth with 143 points, host Mankato East/Loyola took a fifth place finish with 140 points, Rochester Mayo finished sixth with 135.5 points, Rochester John Marshall swam to a seventh place finish with 124 points, Mankato West was eighth with 110 team points, followed by the Packers in ninth with 99 points, Faribault was 10th with a team total of 53, Albert Lea was 11th with 39 points followed by Owatonna in 12th with 12 points.

High finishers Saturday for Austin included the Packers’ 200 medley relay team of Kenny Cabeen, Jackson Barry, Joey Hilkin and Carter Holt who took fifth with a time of 1:55.01, the 200 freestlyle relay team of Winston Walkup, Zach Evenson, Kyle Mayer and Carter Holt took seventh with a time of 1:42.51 and the 3 x 100 backstroke relay team of Walkup, Joey Hilikin and Mayer was seventh with a time of 3:14.10.

The Packers return to action tonight (Tuesday) in a Big 9 dual meet at Owatonna, with the action set to start at 6:30 p.m.
