Austin Packers boys tennis team falls to Winona 4-3 in first round of Section 1AA Team Tennis Tournament

The Austin Packers boys tennis team, the No. 7 seed in the Section 1AA Team Tournament played host to the No. 10 seeded Winona Winhawks in first-round action at Paulsen Courts at the Wescott Athletic Complex Monday, and it was the Packers falling to the Winhawks for a second time this season by a score of 4-3.

Winners for the Packers Monday included Cole Hebrink at No. 1 singles, as he downed Gavin Clemons of Winona 6-3, 6-1, Nathan Danielson at No. 2 singles swept Oliver Wells of the Winhawks in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, and Lucas Rust at No. 4 singles downed Lydia Flesch of Winona 6-0 and 6-3.

The team portion of Austin’s season came to an end with the loss, while Winona moves on to play No. 2 seed Lakeville North in Lakeville Wednesday.  The Packers will return to action in the Section 1AA Individual Boys Tennis Tournament, which gets underway on Tuesday, May 21st.
