Austin Packers boys’ track and field team second at Red Wing Quadrangular Tuesday

The Austin Packers boys’ track and field team traveled to Red Wing for a Big 9 Conference quadrangular with the host Wingers, Mankato West and Rochester John Marshall, and it was the Scarlets taking first with 119.5 team points, followed by the Packers in second with 57 points, Red Wing was third 50 points and John Marshall finished in fourth with 40.5 points.

High finishers for Austin Tuesday included the Packers 4 x 800 meter relay team, as they took second with a time of 9:27.26, Brenan Winkels took second in the 100 meter hurdles with a final time of 19.40 seconds, Austin’s 4 x 100 relay team was third with a time of 51.33 and Alex Petrik was first for the Packers in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.61.

Sophomore Thomas Herrick was fourth for Austin in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:33.36, Austin’s 4 x 400 relay team took second with a final time of 3:51.28, Matthew Grush cleared 8′ 6″ for third in the pole vault, Joseph Walker and A’triel Terry were first and third in the high jump as Walker cleared 5’8″ and Terry 5′ 6″, Mason O’Connor and Andrew Sayles were second and fourth in the discus as O’Connor’s best effort was 106′ and Sayles was 93’5″.  O’Connor and Sayles were also second and fourth in the shot put with efforts of 37’2″ and 35’3″, respectivley and Joseph Walker was second in the long jump with a jump of 20′ 5 3/4″.

Austin returns to action Friday at Mankato East for a quadrangular with the host Cougars, Faribault, New Ulm and Waseca, with the action set to start at 6:15 p.m.
