Austin Packers Dance Team qualifies for State Meet in both high kick and jazz at Section 1AA Meet Saturday
The Austin Packers Dance Team was in search of another trip to the State Dance Meet at the Section 1AA Meet at Kasson/Mantorville High School Saturday, and for the first time in their history, the Packers took home 1st place in both the jazz and high-kick competitions.
In the jazz competition, the Packers earned 553 out of a possible 800 points for an average of 69.1 and first place, with South St. Paul taking second with an average of 67.3, and Northfield was third with an average score of 64.
In the high-kick competition, the Packers earned a total of 601 out of a possible 800 points for an average of 75.1 and first place, with Faribault in second with an average score of 70.1, and Albert Lea was third with an average score of 66.4.
Austin will be in action in the Class AA qualifying competiton for jazz at Target Center in downtown Minneapolis starting at 2:00 p.m. this Friday, February 16th, with Class AA finalists announced at 4:15 p.m., and the finals and award presentations will then take place starting at 7:15 p.m. Friday evening. The Class AA high-kick qualifying competition is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, with finalists announced at 4:15 p.m., and the finals and award presentations for Class AA will then get underway at 7:15 p.m.
