Austin Packers girls’ basketball downs Red Wing 79-59 Tuesday evening

The Austin Packers girls’ basketball team, the No. 2 team in the state in the latest Class AAA rankings was looking to stay unbeaten on the season at Ove Berven Gym Tuesday evening against Big 9 Conference and Section 1AAA rival Red Wing, and Cassidy Shute led four Packers in double figures with 21 points, plus she drilled three of Austin’s 13 3-point field goals in a 79-59 win.

Besides Shute’s 21 points, Hope Dudycha swished five 3’s on her way to 19 points, Emma Dudycha tallied 13 points, Ruby Kvam registered her best varsity effort to date with 11 points, Olivia Walsh added eight points and Reana Schmitt chipped in six points for the Packers, who are now 3-0 in the Big 9 Conference and 4-0 on the season.

Austin is back into action on the road Friday night in Owatonna versus the Huskies, and you’ll hear the game live on AM 1480 KAUS, with the Austin Packers pre-game show on the air at 7:15 p.m., and varsity tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
