Austin Packers girls basketball falls to Visitation 55-53 Monday

The Austin Packers girls basketball team, the No. 10 team in the state in the latest Class AAA rankings from the Minnesota Basketball News played their third game in four days Monday versus the Blazers of Visitation, a private school located in Mendota Heights and ranked No. 17 in Class AAA at the Martin Luther King Classic at St. Catherine’s University, and it was the Blazers coming out on top in a hard-fought, evenly-matched contest 55-53.

The Packers, who trailed 28-27 at the half had three players in double figures, led by guard Ajiem Agwa with 17 points, forward Olivia Walsh added 16 points and fellow veteran Cassidy Shute tallied 14 points.  Austin also picked up four points from guard Marissa Shute and two points from senior center Isabella Weideman, while Visitation had four players in double figures, led by freshman Leah Passe with 13 points.

With the loss, the Packers are now 8-5 on the season, and the toughest portion of Austin’s schedule comes to a conclusion tonight (Tuesday) in Faribault versus the Falcons in a Big 9 Conference matchup, with the varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
