The Austin Packers girls basketball team faced a stern road test Thursday evening as they traveled to Byron to take on the Bears, who were ranked No. 7 in the state in Class AAA in the latest poll from the Minnesota Basketball News, and in a matchup of Section 1AAA teams, it was the Bears racing out to a 42-17 lead at the half on their way to a 70-50 victory.

Junior guard Ajiem Agwa led Austin in scoring with 21 points Thursday evening, Quinn Osgood tallied nine points, Addison Walsh totaled eight points Thursday night, Marissa Shute chipped in six points, junior forward Mackenzie Brede tallied three points, and Atee Obang and Gracie Arndt both totaled two points apiece in the loss.

The Packers are now 3-6 on the season, and the club will start the 2024 portion of their schedule at home on January 4th versus the Rochester Mayo Spartans, with the varsity tip-off at Ove Berven Gym at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
