Austin Packers girls basketball team downs Northfield 65-43 Thursday evening

The Austin Packers girls basketball team was back in action after the holiday break Thursday evening as they played host to the Northfield Raiders in a Big 9 Conference tilt at Ove Berven Gym, and it was the Packers pulling away in the second half to win 65-42.

The Packers led 30-26 at the half and were led offensively by guard Ajiem Agwa, who swished five of Austin’s 10 3-pointers in the game on her way to 23 points, senior guard Cassidy Shute knocked down three 3-pointers and tallied 17 points, senior forward Olivia Walsh was also in double figures for the Packers Thursday night with 11 points, Marissa Shute chipped in six points, Marie Tolbert scored four points, Quinn Osgood drilled a 3-pointer for three points and Nyabol Mourwal scored one point in the win.

The win for the Packers, their third in a row and sixth in their last seven games makes their record 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the Big 9 Conference, and Austin returns to action on Saturday afternoon at Ove Berven Gym against Section 1AAA rival Byron, with tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
