Austin Packers girls basketball team falls to Winona 71-56 in regular season finale Thursday evening
The Austin Packers girls basketball team faced a tough test in their 2023-2024 regular season finale at Ove Berven Gym Thursday evening in the personage of the Winona Winhawks, the No. 10 team in the state in the latest Class AAA poll, and although junior guard Ajiem Agwa piled up 33 points, it was the Winhawks picking up a 71-56 win.
Agwa drained five of Austin’s seven 3-pointers in the game, plus she was 6 for 12 from the free throw line in her 33-point performance, Addison Walsh added eight points, Marissa Shute totaled five points, Quinn Osgood and Kenzie Brede both scored three points apiece Thursday evening, and Atee Obang and Gracie Arndt each added two points apiece.
With the loss, the Packers wrap up the regular season with a record of 11-14, and they will be back into action Wednesday, February 28th in the quarterfinals of the Section 1AAA tournament, with their opponent yet to be determined.
