Austin Packers girls basketball team pulls away from Northfield in the second half to win 70-49 Tuesday evening

The Austin Packers girls basketball team was looking for win number six in a row in Northfield versus the Raiders in a Big 9 Conference matchup Tuesday night, and it was the Packers utilizing a 19-5 run that started in the first half to take a 31-21 lead on their way to a 70-49 victory.
The Packers led 28-21 at the half and went on a 15-0 run to open the second half to crack the game wide open on their way to the win, as the Packers dominated the boards, outrebounding the Raiders 42-26 for the game, and they were also 25 for 56 in the game from the field for 45%, and they were 8 for 21 from behind the 3-point arc for 38%.  Austin was also 11 of 18 from the free throw line, and eight different Packers broke into the scoring column Tuesday night, including sophomore guard Ajiem Agway, who tallied a double-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals, senior guard Cassidy Shute swished three 3-point field goals on her way to 15 points, plus she also added two rebounds, four assists and a steal, senior forward Olivia Walsh scored 11 points Tuesday night, plus she also pulled in six rebounds and dished out five assists, Marissa Shute was also in double figures in scoring with 10 points, plus she added three rebounds, three assists and two steals, Quinn Osgood contributed eight points, nine rebounds, one assist and two steals, sophomore guard Mackezine Brede tallied four points Tuesday evening, plus she pulled in a rebound, and forwards Nyabol Mourwal and Isabella Weideman each scored two points, with Mourwal adding two boards, junior guard Marie Tolbert pulled in four rebounds, dished out two assists and added a steal, and Kristen Neilsen, Addison Boysen and Addison Walsh all added a rebound apiece in the win.
With the win, Ausitn is now 17-6 on the season overall and 16-3 in the Big 9 Conference, and the Packers return to action Thursday night at Ove Berven Gym versus Winona in a Big 9 Conference and Section 1AAA matchup, and you’ll hear the game on AM 1480 KAUS, with the pre-game show coming your way at 7:15 p.m., and the tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
