Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team falls to Rochester Mayo 93-88 Tuesday evening

The Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team played host to the Rochester Mayo Spartans in their last regular-season home meet at Bud Higgins Pool Tuesday evening, and it was the Spartans earning a 93-88 win.

High finishers for Austin Tuesday night included the 200 medley relay team of Gracie Greenman, Kaylee Butts, Addison Tobak and Anna Kossman, who finished second with a time of 2:03.93, Abbie Boysen took second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:10.85, and Olivia Walsh and Alivia Hemry were second and third, respectively, in the 50 freestyle with times of 25.71 and 27.34 seconds.

The Packers continued to excel in 1-meter diving Tuesday evening as sophomores Alayna Kennedy and Reese Norton were 1-2 with final scores of 215 and 211.60 points, respectively, Olivia Walsh was second for Austin in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.03 seconds, Gracie Greenman claimed first place in the 500 freestyle with a final time of 5:39.50, and Austin’s 200 freestyle relay team of Olivia Walsh, Alivia Hemry, Kaylee Butts and Abbie Boysen took first with a time of 1:47.81.

Greenman was also first for the Packers in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.66, and Austin had a field day in the 400 freestyle relay as their three teams finished 1-2-3, led by Olivia Walsh, Gracie Greenman, Abbie Boysen and Alivia Hemry on the anchor leg with a final time of 4:02.89, the team of Anna Kossman, Sydney Tobak, Addison Walsh and Addison Tobak were second with a time of 4:27.41 and the team of Sherilyn Spear, Halle Burke, Emma Czarnota and Madison Tauger were third with a final time of 4:51.41.

Austin will return to action on Saturday at the Section True Team Meet at New Prague, with diving getting underway at 10:00 a.m., and the swimming competition at 2:00 p.m.
