The Austin Packers girls swimming and diving team took to the road for their Big 9 Conference opener for the 2023 season to Owatonna versus the Huskies Thursday evening, and the Packers are out to a 2-0 start after a 98-88 win.
High finishers for the Packers Thursday evening included the squad’s 200 medley relay team of Gracie Greenman, Alivia Hemry, Addison Tobak and Abbie Boysen, who took first with a time of 2:02.57, and Greenman also took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:11.81. Boysen and Tobak finished 1-2 in the 200 Individual Medley for the Packers Thursday night with times of 2:38.17 and 2:45.13, respectively, and Hemry was second for Austin in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.19 seconds.
In the 1-meter diving competition, Alayna Kennedy took first for Austin with a final score of 217.20, while teammate Reese Norton was second with 198.65 points, and Sydney Tobak and Madison Tauger were second and third for the Packers in the 100 butterfly with times of 1:12.64 and 1:17.09. Abbie Boysen was first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.76 seconds, and teammate Alivia Hemry took third with a time of 1:00.24, while in the 500 freestyle, Gracie Greenman was first for the Packers with a final time of 5:53.61, and Halle Burke was third for the Packers with a time of 6:47.63.
Austin’s 200 freestyle relay team of Alivia Hemry, Sydney Tobak, Addison Tobak and Leah Pischke were second Thursday evening with a time of 1:52.51, Anna Kossman took second for the Packers in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:16.55, and Addison Tobak was second in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:24.18. Austin’s 400 freestyle relay team of Gracie Greenman, Leah Pischke, Madison Tauger and Abbie Boysen finished the meet by taking first with a final time of 4:07.54.
The Packers return to action at home Thursday, September 7th versus Rochester Century in the Big 9 Conference, with the action slated to start at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
