Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team third at Austin Invitational Saturday

The Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team played host to an invitational involving Rochester John Marshall, Mayo and Century at Bud Higgins Pool Saturday, and it was the Packers taking third with 377 team points.  Rochester Century was first with 667 points, Mayo was second with 607 points followed by Austin and then John Marshall with 368 team points.

High finishers for the Packers on Saturday included Rachel Engelstad, Reese Norton and Alayna Kennedy, who finished second, third and fourth, respectively in 1-meter diving with scores of 292.00, 269.75 and 255.70, the 200 medley relay team of Madelynn Murley, Kaylee Butts, Ingrid Dolan-Peterson and Mackenzie Carter were fifth with a time of 2:07.72, Murley was sixth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.48 seconds Anna Kossman was fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.86  and Murley was third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.09.

Austin returns to action Thursday at home in a Big 9 dual meet with Mankato East, with the varsity start time at Bud Higgins Pool at 6:30 p.m.
