Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team wins 93-66 at Albert Lea Thursday evening

The Austin Packers girls’ swimming and diving team was on the road for their Big 9 Conference opener in Albert Lea Thursday evening versus the Tigers, and another solid all-around team performance by the Packers lifted them to a 93-66 win.

Austin started off strong as the teams’ 200 medley relay team of Gracie Greenman, Addison Walsh, Olivia Walsh and Sydney Tobak took first with a time of 2:06.75, while the team of Anna Kossman, Anita Rao, Jaycie Pollak and Allison Tobak were third with a final time of 2:14.64.  Eighth-grader Abbie Boysen took first in the 200 freestyle for the Packers with a time of 2:16.23, and teammate Leah Pischke was third with a time of 2:28.95, while Addison Walsh and Kaylee Butts were second and third, respectively, in the 200 individual medley with times of 2:49.01 and 2:50.09.

Austin swept the top three spots in the 50 freestyle with Olivia Walsh taking first with a time of 25.60 seconds, Alivia Hemry was second at 27.95 seconds and Sydney Tobak was third with a time of 29.44.  The Packers also swept the top three spots in 1-meter diving as Alayna Kennedy was first with a final score of 219.35, fellow sophomore Reese Norton was second with a time of 205.20 and senior Rachel Engelstad was third with a final score of 189.10.  Austin swept the top three spots in the 100 butterfly for good measure as Abbie Boysen was first with a time of 1:14.96, Jaycie Pollak was second with a time of 1:16.67 and freshman Addison Tobak was third with a time of 1:25.79.

Freshman Alivia Hemry took first for Austin in the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.35 seconds, and teammate Sydney Tobak was third with a time of 1:05.43.  The Packers swept the top three spots in the 500 freestyle with 8th grader Gracie Greenman taking first with a time of 6:04.16, Leah Pischke was second with a final time of 6:49.83 and Madison Tauger was third with a time of 6:56.30.

The Packers return to action for their home opener at Bud Higgins Pool Thursday, September 8th versus Rochester Century, with the action set to start at 6:30 p.m.
