Austin Packers girls volleyball swept 3-0 at Owatonna Thursday evening

After a 3-1 loss on the road versus Lewiston-Altura Monday evening, the Austin Packers girls’ volleyball team was looking to get back on the winning track Thursday evening in Owatonna versus the Huskies in the Big 9 Conference, but it was the Huskies using strong serving and blocking to down the Packers 25-9, 25-19 and 25-6.
Austin was led offensively by Peyton Manahan with four kills, plus she added five digs and an ace serve, plus Emily Hjelmen, Nora Tweeten and Ava Denzer all added two kills apiece for the Packers, with Hjelmen adding a dig and Denzer coming up with three, and Alia Retterath led Austin in set assists with seven, plus she chipped in five digs and led the club in ace serves with two.
The Packers are 1-1 in the Big 9 Conference and 1-2 overall, and Austin returns to action early Saturday morning in Rochester at the Century Invitational, with the action scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m.
