Austin Packers gymnastics team fourth at Big 9 Meet Saturday

The Austin Packers gymnastics team was at Friedell Middle School in Rochester Saturday to compete in the Big 9 Conference meet, and it was the Packers taking fourth place with a team score of 135.750.

Owatonna took first in the team competition with a final score of 146.800, followed by Mankato West in second with a score of 142.150, then came Winona/Cotter in third with a total score of 141.350, followed by the Packers in fourth.  Mankato East was fifth Saturday with a total of 135.000, then came Northfield in sixth with a score of 131.000, followed by Rochester Century, Rochester Mayo, Red Wing, Faribault and Rochester John Marshall.

Kiki Rodriguez earned All-Conference honors for Austin Saturday by taking fourth in the all-around with a score of 35.500, and also in the top 20 for the Packers Saturday in the all-around were Hanna Fritz in 10th with a score of 34.100 and Katelynn Klouse was 15th with a total score of 33.250.  Rodriguez took seventh on the vault with a score of 9.250, Fritz was 18th with a score of 8.750, teammate Audra Schmitt also finished with a score of 8.750 for 19th place and Klouse also earned a score of 8.750 for 20th place.  Rodriguez was 14th for Austin on the uneven bars with a score of 8.250, while Fritz was 20th with a score of 8.075, and Rodriguez was 10th on the balance beam with a total score of 8.775, Reese Norton was 14th with a score of 8.425, and Klouse took 17th for the Packers in the event with a score of 8.375.  Rodriguez finished in eighth place on the floor exercise Saturday with a score of 9.225, Fritz took 10th for the Packers with a score of 9.150, Klouse finished 19th with a score of 8.850, and Norton finished 23rd Saturday with a score of 8.700.

Austin will host the Section 1A gymnastics meet at Packer Gym this coming Saturday, Feburary 18th, with the action scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
