Austin Packers gymnastics team opens season with 5th place finish in 7-team Mankato K & G Gymnastics Invitational Saturday

The Austin Packers gymnastics team traveled to Mankato Saturday for the K & G Gymnastics Meet to open the 2022-2023 season, and it was the Packers taking fifth place in the team competiton with 130.125 points.  Mankato West won the team competition Saturday with 142.100 points, followed by St. Peter in second with 136 team points, Mankato East took third with 134.650 points, New Ulm Public/NUACS-MVL was fourth with 131.525 points, and following the Packers were Waseca with 128.900 points and Glencoe/Silver Lake in seventh with 120.800 points.

High finishers for the Packers included Kiki Rodriguez, who was fourth on the vault with a score of 9.025, and she took 10th in the all-around for Austin with a total score of 33.425.  Hanna Fritz was ninth for the Packers on the balance beam with a final score of 8.45, and Reese Norton took ninth on the floor exercise for Austin Saturday with a final score of 8.95.

The Packers will start a string of three straight home meets at the YMCA in Austin Thursday evening in a Big 9 Conference dual with Owatonna, with the varsity action set to get underway at 6:30 p.m.
