Austin Packers gymnastics teams routs Faribault Friday, competes at Below Zero Invitational in Cottage Grove Saturday

The Austin Packers kicked off a busy weekend of action Friday night at home versus Faribault in a Big 9 Conference dual meet, and it was the Packers steamrolling to a 132.350-69.400 win.

The Packers swept the top three spots in the all-around, with Kiki Rodriguez taking first with a score of 33.725, Hannah Fritz was second with a score of 33.350, and Katelynn Klouse finished third with a total score of 31.175.  Austin swept the top three spots in every event, as on the vault, Rodriguez was first with a score of 9.505, Peyton Gilmer took second for the Packers with a score of 8.900 and Fritz was third with a score of 8.850.  Rodriguez was also first for Austin on the bars with a score of 7.775, Klouse took second with a final score of 7.425, and Callie McRae was third with a score of 7.350, and on the balance beam, Fritz took first for the Packers with a score of 8.650, Klouse was second with a final tally of 7.925 and Rodriguez was third with a score of 7.800.  On the floor exercise, Rodriguez was first for Austin with a score of 9.100, Reese North earned second with a final score of 8.950 and Fritz was third for the Packers with a score of 8.700.

Austin then traveled to Park High School in Cottage Grove Saturday to compete in the Below Zero Invitational, and in a tough 11-team field, the Packers were 10th with a final team score of 128.850.  Stillwater earned the top finish Saturday with a total of 146.650, with East Ridge and Lakeville South tying for second with 142.700 team points apiece.

Austin returns to action Tuesday at home at the YMCA versus Byron in a non-conference dual meet, with the action scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.
