The Austin Packers volleyball team was on the road in Rochester Thursday night to take on the Mayo Spartans, the No. 10 team in the state in Class AAAA, and it was the Spartans coming away with a 25-14, 25-7 and 25-13 win.
Austin was led in kills Thursday night by Nora Tweeten with five, Ava Denzer supplied four kills, two digs and one ace block for the Packers Thursday night, Teagan Sutter tallied one kill, three digs defensively and one ace block, Emily Heljmen had one kill, Alia Retterath led Austin in set assists Thursday night with seven, plus she added two digs and led the Packers in ace serves with two, Peyton Manahan chipped in one set assist, six digs and an ace serve, Chloe Jenkins put up three set assists and added five digs, and Alia Retterath led Austin in digs Thursday night with 13.
With the loss, the Packers are now 1-6 in the Big 9 Conference and 4-13 overall on the season. Austin returns to action at home next Tuesday night versus Faribault, with the varsity match scheduled to start at 7 p.m. that evening.
