Austin Packers volleyball team goes 3-1 at Maple River Tournament

The Austin Packers volleyball team was on the road at Maple River Saturday for the Maple River Invitational, and the Packers had a strong showing, defeating Sibley East 22-25, 25-23 and 15-7 in their first match, then falling in their second match to Cedar Mountain 14-25 and 12-25 before rallying to win their next two matches over Granada-Huntley-East Chain-Martin Luther-Truman 25-16, 24-26 and 18-16 and over host Maple River 25-19 and 25-12.
Peyton Manahan piled up 24 kills to lead Austin offensively in the tournament, plus she added two set assists, four ace blocks and 24 digs, Alia Retterath led the Packers in set assists with 53, plus she added four kills and four ace serves, Kristen Nielsen led Austin in digs with 36, and in ace serves with seven, and she also chipped in three set assists, Isabella Bolster was tops for the Packers in ace blocks with six, plus she put down 14 kills, Emily Hjelmen accumulated a stat line of 17 kills, one assist, two ace serves and two ace blocks for the tournament, Chloe Jenkins tallied 15 kills, one ace block and 39 set assists, Nora Tweeten and Teagan Sutter each had nine kills, plus Sutter added an ace serve and Ava Denzer racked up nine kills, four ace serves and two ace blocks.
Austin is now 5-12 Overall, and 1-5 in the Big 9 Conference.  The Packers are right back into action this (Monday) evening as they play host to Winona in a Big 9 Conference match, with the varsity action scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
