Austin Public Schools announce hiring of new girls hockey coach

Austin Public Schools have announced that Sultanna Akkerman will lead the Austin High School Girls Hockey program for the 2023-24 season.

Akkerman was a Rochester Century graduate where she also was a member of the girls hockey program. Most recently Akkerman has been coaching for Austin Youth Hockey and was a volunteer coach for Austin High School during the 2022-23 season.

Coach Akkerman is currently employed with Hormel Foods as a Sales Solution Specialist.

Akkerman replaces Kendra Maxfield and Corey Squire who co-led the Packers last season.
