Austin restaurant suffers significant damage in late Tuesday evening fire

An Austin restaurant suffered significant damage in a fire late Tuesday evening.

The Austin Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 11:25 p.m. Tuesday evening concerning a fire at Japan Panda near the intersection of West Oakland Avenue and 14th St. SW.  Fire Chief Jim McCoy reported that crews arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the building.  The fire was contained to the kitchen area with smoke damage throughout the restaurant, and Chief McCoy stated that he has not heard back from the fire investigator at last word as to the exact cause.

The damage estimate to the building is $100,000.
