Austin School Board approves Bell Time Study at last regularly scheduled meeting

The Austin School Board approved a Bell Time Study at their last regularly scheduled meeting that includes a new busing schedule starting for the district next school year.  KAUS spoke with Dr. Joey Page, Superintendent of the Austin School District, who talked about some of the reasons the study was first called for….

The study was completed in March, and the new bell schedule for the 2022-2023 school year will feature the same morning and afternoon bell times as this year at Woodson Kindergarten Center, and also at Banfield, Neveln, Southgate and Sumner Elementary Schools.  I.J. Holton’s morning bell time will remain the same next year at 8:00 a.m., but the afternoon bell will sound at 3:00 p.m. instead of the current 2:45 p.m., the morning bell at Ellis Middle School will sound a half-hour earlier next year at 8:00 a.m, and the afternoon bell will sound 25 minutes earlier at 3:00 p.m., and the morning bell at Austin High School will sound at 8:30 a.m., as is the case this year, but the afternoon bell will sound 15 minutes later next year at 3:30 p.m.
