Austin woman facing assault, obstruction, disorderly conduct charges in Mower County District Court

An Austin woman accused of ramming her vehicle into a police car before later spitting in the face of a correctional officer has been charged in Mower County District Court.  

52-year old Marni Rhyan,is facing a felony charge for 4th degree assault on a correctional employee, plus misdemeanor charges of obstructing the legal process and disorderly conduct in connection to an incident that took place in the early morning hours of Friday, January 7th at an apartment complex at 200 25th St. SW.

Austin Police reported that Rhyan was pounding on apartment doors in the complex before she was located in her vehicle. After several minutes of not complying with law enforcement, she put the vehicle into reverse and struck a police car.  Rhyan was eventually arrested and taken to the Mower County jail, where she allegedly spit in the face of a detention deputy.

Rhyan made her first appearance in Mower County District Court on Friday, January 7th, where Judge Jeffery Kritzer set bail at $10,000 with conditions, and $50,000 without conditions.  Rhyan’s next appearance in Mower County District Court is scheduled for January 20th.
