Austin woman injured in two-vehicle accident in Rice County Monday afternoon

An Austin woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident on southbound Interstate 35 in Rice County Monday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a 2006 Buick Lacrosse being driven by 53-year old Troy Lee Kohnert of New Richland and a 2014 Toyota Rav 4 being driven by 37-year old Paw Kit Htoo of St. Paul were both southbound on Interstate 35 at approximately 4:25 p.m. Monday afternoon when the two vehicles made contact near milepost 52.

Both Kohnert and Htoo were uninjured, but a passenger in Htoo’s vehicle, 30-year-old Tamalshee Kalposhi of Austin suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident, and she was transported to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale for treatment.  

The State Patrol reported that all parties involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts, and the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, the Faribault Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene Monday afternoon.
