The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls basketball team was on the road in Faribault Tuesday evening to take on the Cardinals of Bethlehem Academy in a Gopher Conference East Division matchup, and it was the Cardinals pulling away in the second half to outdistance the Blossoms by a score of 42-32.

The Blossoms held a 20-18 lead at the half, but although each team tallied three 3-point field goals, a key stat in the contest was free throw shooting, as Blooming Prairie was just 1 for 11 at the charity stripe, while the Cardinals were 11 for 18.  Macy Lembke and Claire Schwarz each scored nine points to lead the Blossoms offensively, with Lembke draining two 3-pointers and Schwarz one, Addison Doocy tallied eight points, and Shawntee Snyder added six points.

With the loss, the Blossoms are now 10-4 overall and 5-3 in the Gopher Conference, and Blooming Prairie returns to action Friday night at home versus conference rival NRHEG, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
