Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team downs W-E-M 12-2 Monday
The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team was in search of win number three in a row as they traveled to Waterville Monday to take on the Buccaneers of Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in a Gopher Conference matchup, and the Blossoms were able to utilize nine Buccaneer errors to score nine unearned runs in a 12-2 victory.
The Blossoms led the entire way Monday as they scored two runs in the top of the first and three more in the second for a quick 5-0 lead, and they tacked on three more runs in the top of the fifth to increase their lead to 8-0. After W-E-M scored what turned out to be their only two runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth, the Blossoms came back with one in the sixth and three more in the seventh on their way to the win.
Offensively for Blooming Prairie, pitcher Macy Lembke was a one-player wrecking crew as she helped her own cause in the circle by going 3 for 5 out of the leadoff spot in the order with a double, four RBI’s, three runs scored and two stolen bases, Shawntee Snyder also went 3 for 5 with a double, three RBI’s and a run scored, Rachel Winzenburg was 1 for 4 in the game with two RBI’s and two runs scored, Lily Schammel went 2 for 4 with a run scored, Layla Lembke and Catelyn Bartlett were both 1 for 4, with Bartlett scoring a pair of runs, and Madelyn Harvey was 1 for 2 for the contest with two runs scored.
Lembke was strong in the circle for the Blossoms Monday as she gave up the two Buccaneer runs, both of which were unearned, on six hits, striking out three and walking none.
With the win, the Blossoms are now 14-3 overall on the season, and with the regular season winding down, the squad will be right back into action today (Tuesday) in Hayfield versus the Vikings, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m., before winding up the regular season at home Friday versus Lyle/Pacelli in a non-conference matchup.
