Blooming Prairie downs Lyle/Pacelli in non-conference girls basketball 60-43; Blossoms Coach John Bruns registers 300th win

In non-conference girls’ basketball action you heard from Lyle Monday evening on AM 1480 KAUS, the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics of the Southeast Conference played host to the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms of the Gopher Conference, and senior guard Bobbie Bruns swished four 3-pointers in the first half on her way to leading four Blossoms in double figures with 23 points as Blooming Prairie earned her father John Bruns his 300th career win as a head coach in a 60-43 victory.

The Blossoms never trailed in the game and pushed their lead to as large as nine early on, but LP countered with a full-court press that wound up forcing 15 first half turnovers on Blooming Prairie, and the pressure helped to spark a 15-6 Athletics run to force the only tie of the game at 17-17.  Lyle/Pacelli, though, committed 16 first half turnovers, and Blooming Prairie was able to take a 27-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.  The Blossoms went on a quick 6-0 run to start the second half to push their lead to 13, and scoring from the likes of Bruns, Addison Doocy, who scored six of her 10 points in the half and Haven Carlson, who scored all 10 of her points in the half helped Blooming Prairie to lead by as many as 21 points on their way to the win.

Besides her 23 points, Bruns added six assists in the win for the Blossoms, Anna Pauly registered a strong game in the post with 14 points and nine rebounds and Shawntee Snyder scored three points in the winning effort.  For Lyle/Pacelli, Alana Rogne led the way offensivley for the Athletics with 15 points, Olivia Heard sunk two of LP’s three 3-pointers in the game on her way to 10 points, Kirsten Koopal, Kearah Schafer, Lexi Lewis and Morgan Klankowski all scored four points apiece and Avari Drennan tallied two points for the Athletics, who fell to 1-9 overall with the loss.

With the win, their fourth in their last five games, the Blossoms move to 5-4 overall on the season, and the club celebrated the 300th win for Head Coach John Bruns for his career on the floor after the victory.

Lyle/Pacelli returns to action Friday night in Adams against Southland in a Southeast Conference matchup, while Blooming Prairie also returns to conference action Thursday night at home versus Medford.  Both varsity tip-offs will be at 7:15 p.m.
