Blooming Prairie girls’ basketball falls to Chatfield 53-37 Thursday evening

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms girls’ basketball team played game number four of a season-opening five-game homestand Thursday evening against the Chatfield Gophers out of the Three Rivers Conference, and Peyton Berg tallied 17 points to help the Gophers to a 31-17 lead at the half and eventually a 53-37 victory.

The Blossoms went on a run to start the second half and cut Chatfield’s lead to five points on two different occasions, but Head Coach Jon Bruns stated that a strong, well-coached Gopher squad dug in defensivley and held BP to only three points in the last eight minutes of the game to help seal the victory.

Haven Carlson was the lone Blossom in double figures in scoring with 10 points, Emily Miller added seven points, point guard Bobbie Bruns tallied six points and dished out a club-high seven assists, Macy Lembke and Addison Doocy each added five points, Shawntee Snyder tallied two points and a team-high 12 rebounds and Lauren Schammel scored two points for Blooming Prairie, who falls to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the Gopher Conference.  With the win, Chatfield now sports a 6-1 record.

The Awesome Blossoms return to action next Tuesday evening in a Gopher Conference matchup with Maple River, with tip-off at 7:15 p.m.
