Blooming Prairie softball downs St. Clair/Loyla 8-1

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team was looking to get back on the winning track at home versus the St. Clair/Loyola Cyclones in a non-conference tilt Thursday afternoon, and starting pitcher Haven Carlson gave up only one run on two hits, and four members of the Blossoms’ starting lineup had two hits apiece in an 8-1 victory.

Blooming Prairie scored two runs in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth in the win, and offensively, Macy Lembke was 2 for 4 with a RBI and two runs scored, Rachel Winzenburg was also 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI’s, Bobbie Bruns went 2 for 4 with a triple, a team-high three RBI’s and a run scored, Lexi Steckelberg went 2 for 2 at the plate with a double and a run scored, Layla Lembke was 1 for 4 with a RBI and Alivia Schneider was a perfect 1 for 1 with two runs scored.

Haven Carlson was strong in the circle for the Blossoms as she gave up the one Cyclone run, which was earned on two hits, striking out seven and walking two for the win.

With the win, Blooming Prairie is now 9-4 overall on the season, and the Blossoms return to action on Thursday at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in a Gopher Conference matchup, with first pitch set for 4:30 p.m.
