Blooming Prairie softball suffers first loss of the season at Hayfield Tuesday 11-1 in five innings

The Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team was looking to keep their record unblemished Tuesday in a Gopher Conference matchup at Hayfield versus the Vikings, but it was the Vikings scoring in every inning except the third, and pitcher Anna Bamlet gave up only one run on four hits, striking out six and walking none in a 11-1, 5-inning victory.

Bobbie Bruns, Layla Lembke, Lexi Steckelberg and Alivia Schneider all picked up hits in the game for the Blossoms, with Bruns scoring the only run in the game for BP in the fourth, and Lembke knocking in the only run for the Blossoms with a single.  Hayfield scored three in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth and four in the fifth, and Haven Carlson was tagged with the loss in the circle for the Blossoms as she gave up the 11 runs, eight earned on eight hits, walking seven and striking out three.

Blooming Prairie is now 4-1 on the season, and the Awesome Blossoms return to action Thursday in Randolph versus the Rockets, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
