The victim of a shooting in northwest Austin early Saturday morning has been identified.
Austin Police officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday morning concerning a woman who had been shot inside a residence on the 100 block of 10th Street NW. Responding officers and EMS personnel provided aid to the woman at the scene, who was later identified as 20-year old Tyesha Tahne Gills of Austin. Authorities reported that Gills was then transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin where she later died.
While the investigation of the circumstances surrounding Gills’ death is ongoing, investigators with the Austin Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension do not believe this was a random incident and do not consider there to be an ongoing danger to the public.
Authorities stated that additional information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
