Buay Koak breaks all-time Lyle/Pacelli Athletics basketball scoring mark, Athletics down LeRoy/Ostrander 79-47 in LeRoy Thursday evening

The Lyle/Pacelli Athletics boys basketball team, who had been off since a hard-fought loss at the hands of Spring Grove in Lyle last Friday night were looking to get back on the winning side of the ledger in LeRoy Thursday night versus the Cardinals of LeRoy/Ostrander in a Southeast Conference West Division matchup, and not only did the Athletics roll to a 79-47 win, senior guard Buay Koak became the all-time leading scorer in Lyle/Pacelli Athletics basketball history, breaking the record previously held by Olivia Christianson of 2,177 career points.

Koak’s 21st and 22nd points of the game on a driving left-handed layup lifted him to the new record of 2,178 career points and counting, and he totaled 25 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocked shots in the winning effort Thursday night.  Three other players were also in double figures in scoring for the game for the Athletics, led by forward Hunter Bauer, who tallied 16 points and seven rebounds, guard Mac Nelson tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, plus he added two assists and four steals, guard Jake Truckenmiller also scored 10 points, plus he added three rebounds and four assists, guard Trey Anderson chipped in seven points, nine rebounds, two assists and a steal, Landon Meyer scored six points off the LP bench and forward Dylan Christianson added five points, six rebounds and a steal in the win.

The Athletics are now 18-3 overall and 15-1 in the Southeast Conference, and Lyle/Pacelli returns to action next Thursday at home versus Glenville/Emmons in a Southeast Conference West Division matchup, with the varsity tip-off at 7:15 p.m. that evening.
